School Policies

If your child is sick, do not bring him/her to school.  If your child begins to feel sick at school, we will call you to discuss the best arrangements for your child.

We will call you to pick up your child from school if he/she has one of the following:

• Incessant cough
• Infectious diarrhea
• Temperature of 100.5 degrees or above
• Recurrent goopy and red eyes
• Unexplained rash
• Head lice
• Vomiting
• Sore throat
• Earache
• Or any other infection.

We will rest your child in a quiet area until you can arrive in order to keep him/her isolated from other children.  Pick up of child must be within an hour of notification.

GBH defers to public health recommendations for when a sick child can be readmitted into care.

We keep a daily written record of your child’s attendance. If your child will not be attending on their scheduled day or time, please let a staff person know.

In an effort to ensure the safety of all children, parents must notify GBH staff whenever their child/ren will not be in attendance.  If we are not notified by 9am, we will call you to ensure that your child/ren are safe.  This call will be documented.  As this is required by State Licensing, GBH will enforce the following penalties if notification is not made:

1^st offense: Written warning, no fee

2^nd offense: Written warning, $5.00 fee

3^rd offense: Written warning, $10.00 fee

4^th offense: Child care will be discontinued, effective date of offense, all tuition and fees incurred up to that date will be owed to GBH.

After Center closes at 5:30pm, $5.00 is charged for 1^st 5 minutes, $10.00 is charged for each additional 5 minutes.

There is no charge for 2 weeks of your normal weekly attendance for vacation and/or sick time per year.  This is non-accumulative and calculated from September 1^st to August 31^st.

Request for vacation credit must be made in writing no more than 30 days after the date of absence.
